Joe’s BBQ – Experiencing BBQ the Blue Ridge Way

One thing you can be sure of is that if a restaurant is only open a few days of the week, it's probably going to be worth it to your taste buds to try out. That is certainly the case with Joe's BBQ Restaurant in Blue Ridge. Although they are only open three and a half days a week, they make that short schedule really count for hungry people.

What makes Joe's such a great place to visit is that they are not just your standard issue BBQ place. Naturally, their ribs and pulled pork easily stand up to anything you can get anywhere else, but what makes them rise above their competition is the unique additions to their menu.

One unexpected pleasure is Joe's own homemade Brunswick Stew. After sampling Joe's version, one has to wonder why it isn't on the menu all over the place. Another item that is more of a fusion food than traditional Blue Ridge restaurant BBQ is the massive stuffed potatoes that are filled up with your choice of either pulled chicken or pork and then topped with a generous dollop of sour cream and lots of other goodies. One of these is as good as a meal, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing else to tempt you at Joe's.

What would a BBQ restaurant be without a great set of side dishes? Here you can get all of the traditional favorites, like unctous mac and cheese.
Of course, no review of Joe's BBQ would be complete without mentioning that other favorite side dish for which they have become known-their renowned cinnamon apples. Joe's always has something good for a daily dessert special but give these a try or at least take some home to your Blue Ridge cabin rental with you if you cannot resist the other delights.

Like all great BBQ establishments, Joe's offers their wares any way you want it---by the plate, by the pound, or even by the whole pig and topped off with a selection of fine brews. So, come hungry and wear your old clothes because the best BBQ is never neat. Don't forget that Joe's is open Thursday-Saturday, 11 - 7, and on Sunday from 11 - 3.
