Family Friendly Springtime Activities in Blue Ridge, GA!

As the days grow longer and the temperatures rise, the Blue Ridge National Forest Territory comes alive, shedding the last bit of chill from winter’s cold touch. New life emerges from the forest floors, and wildflowers bounce into bloom with fragrance and flair. Friends gather on docks overlooking the glassy waters of Lake Blue Ridge, and toast to warm days ahead while the sun sets in the west. This is springtime in Blue Ridge, and it’s magical!
There is plenty of fun for the whole family in the Trout Capital of Georgia this spring, let’s take a look at a few of our favorite Family Friendly Springtime activities to enjoy while you’re in town.

45th Annual Spring Arts in the Park
One of the first major events to return to Blue Ridge, Spring Arts in the Park takes place over Memorial Day Weekend. This popular event is a staple of the town and features a variety of artworks from over 175 juried fine arts and fine crafts exhibitors. Attendees can enjoy tasty food and engage with several artist demos throughout the weekend festival.
Don’t miss out on this experience – found only in Blue Ridge, GA!

Ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
Strap on your train engineer’s cap and get ready to chugga-chug your way to an unforgettable day out. Much like Arts in the Park, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is a favorite of locals and visitors alike, hosting more than 80,000 passengers a year. Your journey starts in Downtown Blue Ridge and continues to Copperhill, TN, on a 45-minute excursion (each way). During your break, you will have time to explore the twin border towns of Copperhill, TN, and McCaysville, GA. Here, you can enjoy a local lunch or shop for one-of-a-kind gifts before heading back to Downtown Blue Ridge.

Take Your Family on a Farm Tour of Mercier Orchards
Mercier Orchards is a family friendly and family-owned apple orchard, though you can find many different fruits and other goodies for sale depending on the time of year. Speaking of which, spring is a great time to gather the family for a tour of the farm, which takes place on a charming tractor. You’ll wind your way through the orchard, picking apples and enjoying the sun, until you end up back at the general store. Be sure to stock up on the famous fried pies to eat back at your Blue Ridge cabin rental!

Discover Cabin Life
Few things say “Blue Ridge Mountain vacation,” like a few days tucked away in a cabin rental! Blue Ridge is home to some of the most spectacular cabins in the Southeast. Pick from lavish lakeside lodges and mountain-view masterpieces to secluded cabins and Downtown abodes. It’s the perfect place to call your home base for spring!
