5 Things To Do In North Georgia Right Now

Head for the hills! Celebrate the new year with treating yourself to a Blue Ridge adventure.  Here are 5 Things to do in North Georgia this season:

Trout Fishing
Fannin County, the home of Blue Ridge, is the Trout Capital of Georgia. There are over 100 miles of great trout fishing rivers, creeks and streams in the area. Until May 15, all trout anglers are restricted to using single-hook artificial lures and flies, and all trout must be immediately released unharmed.  The tributaries to the Toccoa River play the most important part of trout fishing in Fannin County. Big Creek, Noontootla Creek, Coopers Creek, Rock Creek and Fightingtown Creek are the largest of these small streams that hold stocked trout, wild trout or both.  Want to take your experience up a notch? Rent a vacation home right on a river or creek.

Winter Hiking
Imagine breathing in the fresh cool winter air as you gaze across the sweeping North Georgia mountains. Boosting more than 100,000 acres located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, including 40,000 acres in the Cohutta Wilderness Fannin County has plenty of options to "take a hike". Two of the greatest outdoor adventures in the world begin here. Both the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye Trails start at the top of Springer Mountain.
