When Is Peak Fall Foliage In North Georgia 2017?

Typically, Georgia’s autumn hues will flourish in mid-to-late October; however, color can be seen as early as September and throughout much of November.  This year, with the unseasonably colder temps, we may see more Fall foliage late September heading into October.  To track the changes, the Georgia's Department of Natural Resources will update their "LeafWatch" page starting next month. A few things to note:

Three summer weather conditions help meteorologists predict when peak foliage change takes place:
  • Dry Summer conditions - Earlier than average color change and slower drop.
  • Normal Summer conditions - Mid-October to Mid-November slow gradual change and drop.
  • Wet Summer conditions - Later than average color change and quicker drop.
